Bad-Mommy moment #296

Left the girl's hobby horse out in the rain.

Let me explain...

Little Bug was on a hobby-horse kick yesterday. She rode it all day, even calling me at work and telling me to 'watch' her ride it. Lol. When I got home from work, she was still riding it. At some point she took a break and was sitting next to me on the couch, with the hobby horse in tow. She was obviously practicing for a future circus performance, twirling it in her lap, and occasionally swatting me in the knee with the wooden stick. I asked her to be careful, and warned that if I got hit again it would be time to put the horse away.

Well she didn't hit me in the knee again. Instead, she whacked me in the face with it. In a split second I went through a flurry of emotions on the inside, maintained my cool on the outside, then took the horse through a few rooms before finally deciding to leave him outside on the deck for a little while. When LB realized that I was really hurt, she stopped mourning the horse and helped me hold an ice pack on my bruised and swollen nose. She was really sweet and told me she was sorry. Great kid...

Bad mama - I forgot all about the horse laying outside on the deck last night as I fell asleep to the soothing sounds of a thunderstorm. I remembered it this morning when I looked in the mirror and saw my nose still swollen. Poor guy's fur was a bit matted, but hopefully he will be good as new (or at least halfway decent) when he dries...
